Flextronics - The Flex Company in Guadalajara, Mexico seeks an Automation Process Engineer to develop, test, program, and optimize automated lines across mechanical and digital environments. The role aims to improve processes, save costs, and enhance product and design outcomes, reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Manager.

• Bachelor’s degree in related field (Mechatronics, mechanical, electronics or similar).
• Strong background in automation engineering with prior experience in similar role.
• Experience in control & vision systems, PLC programming, Cognex, industrial robotics (Omron, Epson robots or others).
• Controls knowledge; sensors and electronic security for machinery and users.
• Mechanical knowledge; AutoCAD, mechanical references, and assembly knowledge.
• English proficiency advanced.
• Strong ability to develop and present information across different levels within the organization and with clients.

Responsabilidades

• Design, engineer, and modify existing and new automation equipment and tooling to automate manufacturing processes.
• Create technical manuals, drawings, models, training docs, and preventative maintenance plans for automation systems.
• Maintain uptime via preventive and breakdown maintenance; lead automation projects and knowledge sharing.
• Lead why-why investigations and drive permanent corrective actions.
• Provide design feedback to improve process and equipment.
• Direct daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs.
• Coordinate maintenance with engineering and operations for efficient function.
• Support automation framework planning and development for new products.

Job Summary

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission‑critical applications. To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Automation Process Engineer located in Guadalajara, North. Reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Manager, the Automation Process Engineer role will be our specialist in automated lines development, testing, programming and optimizing automated systems in various mechanical and digital environments to help and improve processes, save costs, and achieve better outcome of design, product, and processes,

What a typical day looks like

• Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately‑complex automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
• Understand the machine operating standards, onsequence of wear and tear parts and product defects Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance Drives projects on automation and motivates learning within the team.
• Prepares why-why evaluation & drive for permanent corrective actions.
• Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
• Directs daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs.
• Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function.
• Collaborates and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the Automation framework and associated processes for new products.
• Identifies and drives change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes.
• Demonstrates understanding of customer requirements, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to deliver automation solutions.
• Presents information regarding automation projects across different levels within the organization and clients.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

• Bachelor’s degree in related field; Mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electronics, or similar.
• Strong background in automation engineering with previous work experience in similar role.
• Experience in control & vision systems, PLC programming, Cognex, industrial robotics (Omron, Epson robots or others).
• Controls knowledge; Sensors and electronic security for machinery and users.
• Mechanical knowledge; autocad, lecture of mechanical references, mechanical assembly.
• English proficiency advanced.
• Strong ability to develop and present information across different levels within the organization and with clients.
