Descripción del empleo

The Role

At Clarios, we are operating leaner and faster than ever — arming the business with connected intelligence, automation, and AI. As an Associate Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you start your journey at the front line of that work: you embed with supply chain teams and help build the analytics tools, dashboards, and purpose-built command centers — on decision intelligence platforms like Palantir — that turn data into faster, better decisions.

FDEs are hybrid business and technology builders. Rather than handing work between teams, we stay connected to the problem from concept through adoption and measurable value. An FDE blends the Analyst (insights), Data Engineer (pipelines), Data Scientist (models), Business SME (process), and Software Engineer (applications) — and stays embedded with the business, accountable not for a report but for the business outcome.

At the Associate level, you own well-scoped tasks and components — building, iterating, and validating your work under the guidance of experienced FDEs — while rapidly growing the technical skills and domain knowledge that let you take on full solutions. This is the entry-level on-ramp into the Forward Deployed Engineering team driving Clarios’ digital transformation and supply chain excellence.

What You’ll Own (Impact Areas)

  • Build decision-support tools: build and enhance components of dashboards, Ontology-based workflows, and decision-support tools within Palantir Foundry — under the guidance of experienced FDEs — to help solve real business problems.

  • Configure the Ontology: configure Ontology-backed objects, actions, and metrics on well-scoped tasks, learning how business users interact with data through intuitive applications rather than raw reports.

  • Prototype & gather feedback: help build wireframes and prototypes for specific features, and help gather user feedback to refine solutions before they scale.

  • Support data requirements & pipelines: help gather and document data requirements from diverse sources (Azure, data lakes, SQL Server, Excel), supporting Senior FDEs and Global Analytics as they implement ETL changes.

  • Build domain knowledge: learn Clarios supply chain business functions and build the domain knowledge that makes analytics work matter — and that helps you iterate more quickly over time.

  • Build with AI & strong fundamentals: use AI-powered development tools to build and iterate quickly while developing strong engineering fundamentals, pairing with Senior FDEs and FDE Leads and following established patterns and standards to build reliable, reusable components.

  • Document & incorporate feedback: write and maintain clear documentation for the business logic, Ontology definitions, KPIs, and assumptions behind your work, and take direction from the product manager, Senior FDEs, and end users to improve usability and adoption.

  • Support adoption: support the team in adoption activities — testing solutions, collecting user feedback, and helping track whether tools are used and valued.

Level & Scope

  • Core scope: Task / Component — build and validate well-scoped tasks and components under guidance.

  • Span of influence: Self and immediate task within the pod.

  • Formal span of control: None (individual contributor).

  • Promotion signal: Can reliably deliver defined tasks and is ready to own a scoped solution end to end (L1).

What Success Looks Like

  • Learn quickly and turn feedback into better solutions with every iteration.

  • Deliver well-scoped tasks reliably, building the fundamentals that lead to owning full solutions.

  • Build strong working relationships across your pod and with the business users you support.

  • Participate in a high-performing team culture focused on learning, collaboration, and results.

Core Competencies

  • Foundational data manipulation and analysis (SQL, Python, or Excel).

  • Curiosity for decision intelligence platforms (e.g., Palantir Foundry) and Generative AI tools.

  • Building dashboards, Ontology-based workflows, and decision-support applications.

  • Clear documentation of business logic, KPIs, and assumptions.

  • Collaboration in cross-functional pods — taking direction and incorporating feedback.

  • Strong problem-solving and eagerness to grow both technical and business domain knowledge.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

Must-have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field — recent and upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply.

  • Internship / co-op experience, or academic or personal projects in data, analytics, or software equivalent to an internship / co-op.

  • Foundational skills in data manipulation and analysis (e.g., SQL, Python, or Excel), and curiosity about decision intelligence platforms such as Palantir and Generative AI tools.

  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and collaborate in cross-functional teams.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to grow both technical and business domain knowledge.

Nice-to-have

  • Internship, co-op, or project experience in analytics, data engineering, or software development.

  • Familiarity with decision intelligence tools (e.g., Palantir, Aera) or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) or databases (SQL Server, Snowflake).

  • Advanced coursework or a graduate degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or Computer Science.

  • Familiarity with agile ways of working (user stories, sprints).

  • Coursework or projects using Python or R for data analysis and automation.

  • Exposure to automotive or manufacturing environments.

Tech Stack We Use

  • Decision Intelligence Platforms (Palantir) and Atlan for data cataloging.

  • Python (pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyMC).

  • SQL (Snowflake, SQL Server, Azure).

  • TypeScript and React (Palantir).
