Placements24 is seeking a Principal Blockchain Protocol Developer for a fully remote position. You will lead design and optimization of core blockchain protocols and infrastructure across distributed teams, shaping the backbone of our decentralized ecosystem.

The role requires deep expertise in distributed systems, blockchain architectures, and cryptography, with a track record of leading large protocol projects.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 6 years focused on blockchain protocol development and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of various blockchain architectures (e.g., UTXO, account-based), consensus algorithms (PoW, PoS, BFT variants), and cryptographic primitives.
• Proven experience designing and implementing scalable blockchain networks.
• Proficiency in low-level programming languages such as C++, Rust, or Go.
• Experience with network programming, distributed systems, and peer-to-peer technologies.
• Strong understanding of cryptography and security principles relevant to blockchain.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and architectural design skills.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Exceptional communication skills for effective remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of new blockchain protocols and features.
• Architect and implement scalable, secure, and efficient consensus mechanisms.
• Optimize network performance, transaction throughput, and latency.
• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of emerging blockchain technologies and cryptographic techniques.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, research, product) to define protocol roadmaps and specifications.
• Oversee and mentor junior protocol developers.
• Ensure the security and robustness of blockchain protocols through rigorous testing and code reviews.
• Contribute to the open-source blockchain community where applicable.
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation for protocol designs and implementations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to blockchain network operation and performance.
