Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking an experienced AI and Backend Engineer to design and build scalable, production-grade software. The role emphasizes agentic AI systems, search and information retrieval, and integration of LLMs and multimodal AI into enterprise applications.

You will own production systems end-to-end, implement robust backend APIs, and drive reliability, performance, and observability across large-scale workflows.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience architecting, designing, and optimizing large-scale search and information retrieval systems.
• 6 months to 1 year hands-on experience building agentic AI solutions, including tool-using, conversational, reasoning, planning, or long-running agents.
• Experience with modern agent frameworks such as OpenAI Agents SDK, LangGraph, Google ADK, SmolAgents, or equivalent technologies.
• 1+ year of experience evaluating AI systems for quality, reliability, and safety at scale.
• 5+ years of experience delivering production-grade software in enterprise or consumer environments.
• Experience with OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or comparable search and retrieval technologies.
• Strong understanding of digital media and broadcast production operations and workflows.
• Experience working with video, rich visual media, or multimodal AI systems.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, industry trends, and engineering best practices.
• Hands‑on experience with C4 architecture models and traditional software design artifacts.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agentic AI frameworks from scratch, including tool usage and multi-step reasoning.
• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable production APIs and backend services.
• Own production systems end-to-end, driving reliability, uptime, and observability.
• Apply backend engineering principles across service design and API development.
• Develop and maintain AI evaluation frameworks and evaluation datasets.
• Build and orchestrate large-scale batch workflows leveraging foundation models.
