Bombardier in Mexico offers a strategic role leading government and industry affairs. You will build relationships with federal and state bodies, monitor policy changes, and shape engagement strategies to advance Bombardier’s interests and sustainability agenda in Querétaro.

A hybrid work setup is available, with regular collaboration across teams and external partners. Ideal candidates bring five+ years in public policy or government affairs, strong communication in Spanish and English, and

Formación

  • Minimum five years of related experience in Mexico Government or Industry Affairs.
  • Bachelor degree in public affairs or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Public Policy and International Affairs/Trade.
  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Familiar with senior levels of Government and related institutions.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in a Windows environment.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop and manage relationships with government and industry stakeholders in Mexico.
  • Monitor regulatory and policy developments impacting Bombardier’s interests.
  • Influence policy developments to advance Bombardier’s interests in Mexico.
  • Develop engagement strategies with stakeholders to address issues.
  • Provide troubleshooting support where governments play a role.
  • Identify Mexican support programs for training, R&D, industrialization and defence.
  • Manage membership in key industry associations to align with our priorities.
  • Provide leadership in strategy development for Bombardier’s sustainability agenda.
  • Support defence campaigns with the sales and marketing team.
  • Plan pre-tender engagement to position defence solutions.
  • Identify thought leadership opportunities in defence policy.
  • Budget management for government and industry affairs in Mexico.
  • Prepare briefing materials for executives’ meetings with Mexican stakeholders.
  • Monitor visits to Canada and coordinate engagement with briefing materials.
  • Mobilize the government and industry affairs team to support advocacy campaigns.

What are your contributions to the team?
Provide Leadership for Government and Industry Affairs in Mexico
  • Proactively develop and manage relationships with key government and industry stakeholders in Mexico, including at the federal government level, within important state governments for Bombardier primarily Queretaro and Chihuahua, and relevant associations.

  • Monitor regulatory and policy developments that may impact Bombardier’s interests, and report on these to key internal stakeholders.

  • Influence policy and regulatory developments, with a view to advancing Bombardier’s interests in Mexico.

  • Develop and implement engagement strategies with government and industry stakeholders to address specific issues as they emerge.

  • Provide troubleshooting support to various Bombardier functions for issues where governments play a role.

  • Explore, identify and apply for Mexican support programs for training, R&D, industrialization initiatives and defence, in line with Bombardier’s needs and priorities.

  • Proactively manage Bombardier’s membership to key industry associations to ensure maximum alignment with our interests and priorities, and benefits to the organization.

  • Provide leadership in strategy development and implementation for advancing Bombardier’s sustainability agenda and edge.

Provide Leadership for Defence Affairs in Mexico
  • Support our defence campaigns, working closely with the sales and marketing team.

  • Develop and implement strategies for pre-tender engagement to position our defence solutions and influence requirements setting.

  • Identify and deliver on thought leadership opportunities in defence policy.

Budget and Management
  • Lead in proactively managing the government and industry affairs budgets for Mexico:

  • Support establishment of annual budget plans and budget requests.

  • Monitor budget allocations, spends and implementation, including tracking budgets and advising managers of potential overages.

  • Put in place purchase orders, as required, process invoices and support sponsorship and services contract negotiations and conclusions.

Team Support and Project Management
  • Manage list of external stakeholder contacts:

  • Leverage Excel, consolidate and regularly update contact list (Canada and international);

  • Monitor changes at key associations and governments;

  • Send on behalf of team updates to key stakeholders.

  • Support and prepare briefing materials for executives’ meetings with key Mexican stakeholders.

  • Identify key Mexican government stakeholders’ visits to Canada and support engagement with briefing materials.

  • obilize government and industry affairs team to support key advocacy and defence campaigns in Mexico.

How to thrive in this role?
  • You have a minimum of two (5) years of related experience in Mexico Government or Industry Affairs, or Public Policy roles;

  • You hold a bachelor degree in public affairs or a related discipline;

  • You have strong knowledge in Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Public Policy and International Affairs/Trade;

  • You have excellent communication skills, Spanish and English (both spoken and written);

  • You are familiar with the senior levels of Government and related institutions;

  • You have excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook software in a Windows environment and a strong knowledge of social media platforms.

  • You have strong organizational skills

  • You have excellent Judgment and Strategic Thinking skills

  • You have the ability to work within short deadlines and under pressure

  • You are a strong team player and good communicator

  • You are customer service oriented

  • You are motivated and organized

  • You have good Protocol skills

  • You are autonomous and dynamic

  • You are flexible in terms of availability

Onboarding information:
  • The position is based in Mexico (Queretaro)

  • Permanent position

  • Work at the office with possibility to work from home (2-3 days a week).
