Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Finance Specialist to join our team in Mexico. In this role, you will handle day-to-day accounting and operational finance tasks, ensuring strict compliance with local Mexican tax regulations (SAT) and company policies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate financial records, manage electronic invoicing (CFDI), and support month-end closing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Accounting & Ledger Entry: Assist with routine journal entries, voucher preparation, and maintaining accurate general ledger records in accordance with Mexican Financial Reporting Standards (NIF).
- CFDI & Invoicing Management: Issue, validate, and organize electronic invoices (CFDI 4.0), XML, and PDF files via the SAT portal or ERP system. Ensure all supplier expense vouchers comply with local tax deductibility requirements.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable (AP/AR): Track vendor payments, review employee expense reports, issue payment receipts (Complemento de Pago), and follow up on customer accounts receivable aging schedules.
- Bank Reconciliation & Cash Flow: Conduct daily bank reconciliations, manage petty cash vouchers, and prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
- Tax & Audit Support: Assist in gathering monthly invoice and tax data to support external accountants/tax advisors with tax filings (IVA, ISR, DIOT) and annual audit preparation.
- Document Management: Maintain, organize, and archive accounting records, tax documents, and financial contracts in compliance with local regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience in basic accounting, bookkeeping, or AP/AR in Mexico (promising recent graduates with relevant internship experience will also be considered).
- Local Compliance Knowledge: Basic understanding of Mexican tax compliance rules, SAT portal navigation, CFDI 4.0 regulations, and Mexican NIF.
- Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables). Experience with accounting ERP software is a strong plus.
- Language Skills: Fluent/Native Spanish; Professional Business English (written and spoken) for cross-border team communications and reporting.
