Job summary

ALTEN Mexico is seeking a Body Design & Release Engineer to oversee design, development, validation, timing, and release of BIW body components and systems. The role covers underbody and upperbody BIW, with on-site work near Toluca/Mexico City (Santa Fe).

You will coordinate with suppliers, stamping plants, and vehicle plants to ensure manufacturability, cost and material performance align with milestones and vehicle goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 3+ years in automotive sheet metal development.
• Proficient in CAD software (Teamcenter, NX, Vis Pro) and PLM systems.
• Strong knowledge of metal forming and joining.
• Familiarity with GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R and tolerance stack‑up.
• Excellent problem-solving and project management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the design, development, and release of BIW upper body components and subassemblies.
• Lead the development and release of BIW underbody stampings and assemblies.
• Ensure manufacturability, cost and material performance meet project milestones and vehicle objectives.
• Develop and manage CBOM and Quadris for subassemblies.
• Create Source Package technical documentation and manage supplier reviews.
• Define and track engineering validation plans (DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA) and coordinate testing.
• Provide onsite plant launch support to triage and establish corrective actions for issues during launch.
• Communicate project status, risks, and deliverables to stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams.

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Body Design & Release Engineer to join our team. As a Body Design & Release Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing, and production release of body components and systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate design and development of body systems, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the design and release processes.

The area we are seeking currently to cover is Body-In-White: Underbody / Upperbody.

The Body D&R Engineer is responsible for the component and system level design, development, validation, timing and production release of the following areas:

• Vision Body-In-White components:
  • Underbody
  • Upperbody

Key responsibilities:

• Own and manage the design, development, and release of BIW upper body components and subassemblies / Lead the development and release of BIW underbody stampings and assemblies.
• This includes parametric modeling using NX.
• Work with external suppliers, internal stamping plants, and vehicle plant body shop to ensure manufacturability, cost, and material performance meet project milestones and vehicle functional objectives.
• Develop and manage CBOM and Quadris for subassemblies.
• Create Source Package technical documentation and manage technical reviews with the suppliers and internal Client teams.
• Define and track engineering validation plans (DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA) and coordinate physical testing.
• Provide onsite plant launch support to triage, root cause and establish corrective actions to address assembly, build variation, BSR or any other fit and finish items or launch gating issues.
• Ensure designs comply with internal standards, vehicle performance targets, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate project status, risks, and deliverables to stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in automotive sheet metal development or related area.
• Proficient in CAD software (Teamcenter, NX, Vis Pro) and PLM systems.
• Strong knowledge of metal forming and joining techniques.
• Familiarity with GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance stack up, and typical automotive validation testing.
• Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated individual.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs.
• Knowledge of style freeze processes and theme evaluation.
• In-plant experience (tool tryouts, assembly, program launch).
• Familiarity with automotive quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949).
