Job summary

Egis seeks a detail-oriented Sustainability/Environmental Specialist for our Kuwait operations. You will develop, implement, and monitor environmental initiatives across port, terminal, and infrastructure operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and reducing ecological footprint.

You will work with cross-functional teams to integrate best practices, manage data analysis, and prepare reports for regulators and stakeholders, driving sustainable performance across facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental management, sustainability, or related field within port, terminal, or maritime operations.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and compliance frameworks (ISO 14001, MARPOL, IMO, Kuwait regs).
• Proficiency in environmental data analysis and interpretation.
• Experience with environmental management software and GIS tools.
• Demonstrated project management skills across multiple initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental impact assessments and sustainability audits for port, terminal, and infrastructure operations.
• Develop and implement environmental management programs aligned with ISO 14001, MARPOL, and local regs.
• Monitor and analyze air, water, waste, and emissions data.
• Prepare sustainability reports and compliance documentation for regulators and stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to reduce carbon, energy use, and waste.
• Manage environmental projects from conception to completion within timelines and budgets.
• Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with port operations, terminal management, and infrastructure teams on sustainability.
• Maintain environmental management systems and data bases.
• Provide training on environmental policies and compliance requirements.
• Stay current with evolving maritime environmental regulations and standards.

Job Description

We're looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Sustainability/Environmental Specialist to join our organization in Kuwait. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental and sustainability initiatives across our port, terminal, and infrastructure operations. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, reduce our ecological footprint, and drive sustainable practices throughout our facilities.

• Conduct environmental impact assessments and sustainability audits for port, terminal, and infrastructure operations
• Develop and implement environmental management programs aligned with international standards (ISO 14001, MARPOL, and local regulations)
• Monitor and analyze environmental data, including air quality, water quality, waste management, and emissions
• Prepare comprehensive sustainability reports and compliance documentation for regulatory agencies and stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions, energy consumption, and waste generation across operations
• Manage environmental projects from conception through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
• Conduct risk assessments related to environmental hazards and recommend mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with port operations, terminal management, and infrastructure teams to integrate sustainability best practices
• Maintain and update environmental management systems and databases
• Provide training and guidance to staff on environmental policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
• Stay current with evolving environmental regulations and industry standards specific to maritime and port operations
• Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and environmental organizations

Qualifications

• Proven experience in environmental management, sustainability, or related field within port, terminal, or maritime operations
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and compliance frameworks (ISO 14001, MARPOL, IMO regulations, and local Kuwait regulations)
• Proficiency in environmental data analysis and interpretation
• Experience with environmental management software and GIS tools
• Demonstrated project management skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skill set
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to prepare detailed environmental reports and sustainability documentation
• Experience with carbon footprint analysis and emissions monitoring
• Knowledge of waste management systems and circular economy principles
• Familiarity with renewable energy and energy efficiency programs
• Experience conducting environmental audits and risk assessments
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multicultural environment
• Preferred: Certification in environmental management (e.g., ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, Environmental Compliance Officer)
