Job summary

Palms Agro Production Company in Kuwait seeks a hands-on Chief Accountant to lead the full accounting function and manage a dedicated team of Senior and Junior Accountants. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting and tight financial control across projects and overheads.

You will oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end closes, prepare statements, variances, and reports, and coordinate with external auditors and the CFO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience in project-based business.
• Experience in construction, contracting, engineering, or similar projects.
• Leadership and team supervision experience.
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial closing.
• Experience with external audits.
• Proficient with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with inventory, fixed assets, and cost controls.
• Knowledge of Kuwait tax and statutory requirements.
• Excellent communication in Arabic and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee full accounting function and daily operations.
• Manage and develop the accounting team including Senior and Junior Accountants.
• Plan and control monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
• Review and approve journals, reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses.
• Ensure timely reporting of financial position and performance.
• Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP, profitability, and variances.
• Establish internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate external audits and respond to auditor queries.
• Work with CFO to provide accurate financial information.
• Maintain audit trails for significant transactions.
• Identify weaknesses and implement improvements.
