Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a proactive Maintenance Supervisor to lead the hotel maintenance team and ensure guests enjoy safe, well-maintained facilities. You will implement preventative maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural areas, coordinating with external contractors as needed.

Applicants should have proven leadership in hospitality maintenance, strong knowledge of building systems, and a focus on safety and efficiency.

  • Supervise Maintenance Team: scheduling, delegation, performance reviews.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for hotel facilities.
  • Oversee repairs across plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized services.
  • Monitor safety compliance and emergency readiness across facilities.
  • Manage energy and water usage, seeking efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost control for maintenance operations.
  • Address guest maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with housekeeping and front desk to align priorities.
  • Lead safety drills and training as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Maintenance Team
    • Lead and manage maintenance team, including scheduling, task delegation, and performance evaluation.
    • Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure all maintenance personnel are knowledgeable and efficient.
  • Preventative Maintenance Program
    • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment, systems, and facilities.
    • Schedule regular inspections of rooms, common areas, and equipment to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Repair and Maintenance
    • Oversee routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs.
    • Respond promptly to urgent repair requests to minimize disruption to operations or guest services.
    • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized services and ensure completion to standard.
  • Facility Management
    • Monitor condition of hotel facilities (guest rooms, common areas, conference rooms, restaurants, pools, fitness centers, exterior spaces) to ensure maintenance and safety.
    • Ensure fire safety, security systems, and emergency equipment (alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers) are operational and compliant with local regulations.
  • Inventory and Supplies Management
    • Maintain adequate inventory of parts, tools, and equipment; order supplies timely.
    • Track and control usage of energy, water, and other resources; seek efficiency opportunities.
  • Compliance with Health & Safety Regulations
    • Perform maintenance work in compliance with local health, safety, environmental regulations and hotel policies.
    • Lead and participate in safety drills, training, and audits.
  • Budget and Cost Control
    • Assist in preparing and managing department budget; ensure cost-effective maintenance.
    • Track expenditures for repairs, projects, and improvements; work with management to minimize costs while maintaining quality.
  • Guest Service & Satisfaction
    • Address guest requests and concerns related to maintenance promptly and efficiently.
    • Communicate with other departments (housekeeping, front desk, etc.) to coordinate priorities without disrupting operations.
  • Energy and Water Conservation Initiatives
    • Lead efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce water consumption; implement sustainable practices and monitor effectiveness of installed systems.
  • Emergency Response
    • Act as first point of contact for emergency maintenance issues, respond to system failures, leaks, power outages; coordinate repair to restore normal operations.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role in hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and general maintenance skills.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and equipment.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
