Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on exploration trends, technologies, and developments in Upstream Oil & Gas exploration.
• Develop, review, and support exploration programs based on geological, geophysical, technical, and commercial considerations.
• Advise on R&D programs related to exploration and subsurface evaluation.
• Support manpower and capability planning to strengthen technical knowledge within exploration teams.
• Lead geological and geoscience activities related to prospectivity assessment, maturation, and de-risking of drillable locations.
• Identify and evaluate prospective areas and drilling targets and assess resource potential.
• Support basin analysis, petroleum system evaluation, prospect generation, ranking, and exploration portfolio assessment.
• Integrate geological and seismic interpretation to identify prospects and assess uncertainty and risk.
• Evaluate key geological risks, including trap integrity, reservoir presence and quality, seal effectiveness, and hydrocarbon charge.
• Assess geohazards and mitigation measures.
• Provide recommendations on drilling locations, exploration strategies, and development approaches.
• Apply geological, geomechanical, geocellular, and fracture modelling to support prospect evaluation.
• Develop, validate, and execute technical programs including scope, resources, and budgets.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on current exploration trends, emerging technologies, and developments in Upstream Oil & Gas exploration.

• Develop, validate, and execute technical programs, including defining scope, resources, schedules, budgets, and required capabilities.
• Advise on technology portfolios and evaluate emerging technologies that can improve exploration efficiency and technical outcomes.
• Collaborate with E&P companies, technology providers, research institutions, and multidisciplinary teams to evaluate technical challenges and potential opportunities.
• Translate complex geological and subsurface data into clear, actionable recommendations for management and decision-making.
• Prepare technical reports, geological maps, prospect evaluations, risk assessments, and management presentations.
• Provide innovative technical recommendations and resilient exploration strategies to address complex subsurface challenges.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and capability development to geoscience professionals.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams involving geologists, geophysicists, geochemists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and other technical specialists.

Qualification Requirements

• Master’s degree in Geoscience, Geology, Geophysics, or a related discipline; PhD is preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of international Upstream Oil & Gas experience, with substantial experience in E&P exploration and research & development.
• Proven experience in prospect evaluation, exploration program development, basin analysis, petroleum system evaluation, and drilling target assessment.
• Strong experience integrating geological and seismic interpretation for prospect identification, ranking, uncertainty assessment, and exploration risking.
• Strong knowledge of geological risk assessment, including trap integrity, reservoir presence and quality, seal effectiveness, hydrocarbon charge, and geohazards.
• Experience with geocellular, geomechanical, and fracture modelling and their application to exploration and development decisions.
• Proven ability to develop and manage multidisciplinary exploration programs and technical projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams comprising geologists, geophysicists, geochemists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and other specialists.
• Proficiency with industry-standard G&G software and integrated subsurface interpretation workflows.
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications and digital workflows in geoscience interpretation is preferred.
• Experience with carbonate reservoirs and Middle East petroleum systems is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to translate complex geological information into actionable technical and business recommendations.
• International experience with major or independent E&P companies and/or research institutions is preferred.
• Strong technical publication record in recognized geoscience or industry journals is an advantage.
