FAO's Legal Office (LEG) at FAO headquarters in Rome seeks a Young Professional Officer (Legal) to support development law, including legal and institutional aspects of food and agriculture and natural resource management.

You will conduct legal analyses, draft opinions and contribute to training materials and workshops, working under supervision of the Senior Legal Officer. The role emphasizes collaboration across units and alignment with FAO’s gender equality policy.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in law (Master’s or equivalent).
• One year of relevant experience in legal and institutional aspects of food/agriculture and/or natural resources.
• Working knowledge of English and proficiency in another FAO official language.

Responsabilités

• Perform legal research and analysis for development law and related topics.
• Draft legal instruments, opinions, briefs, reports and other documents.
• Contribute to LEGN’s support of Strategic Programme Teams and technical units.
• Assist in preparing teaching materials, seminars and publications.
• Provide legal support to FAO activities aligned with Strategic Objectives.
