Job summary

Keysight in Lombardia, Italy, is seeking a Wireless Protocol Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize the L3 protocol stack (RRC) for advanced 5G and pre-6G systems. You will work close to standards and real implementations, translating evolving specifications into scalable software components.

The role requires deep 3GPP LTE/NR expertise, strong C/C++, multi-threading and real-time programming, and effective technical communication in English.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate, and optimize the L3 protocol stack (RRC)
Support UE emulation
Contribute to 5G standards, following 3GPP evolution
Translate evolving requirements (3GPP releases, operator acceptance needs, O-RAN priorities) into clear software designs, test workflows, and reusable components
Collaborate with cross-functional experts (systems, RF, protocol, product, customers/partners) to reproduce field issues, debug complex behaviors, and validate fixes with strong root-cause discipline
