Job summary

Spektrum is seeking an experienced Virtualization Administrator for a remote contractual engagement to support NATO-related projects. You will manage VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Foundation, and IaC-based infrastructure, focusing on stability, security and automation across multi-vendor environments.

You will collaborate with storage, networking, and OS teams, implement Terraform-based automation, monitor health, and ensure change-management compliance while guiding junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in enterprise virtualization infrastructure.
• Proven hands-on experience installing, configuring, administering and troubleshooting VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation.
• Practical experience with VCF Operations and VCF Automation.
• Experience implementing Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code for VMware resources.
• Strong scripting and automation experience.
• Familiarity with Hyper-V and KVM as alternate platforms.
• Ability to manage operational tasks independently and escalate high-risk issues.

Responsibilities

Virtualization Administrator

Role Background

Trigyn is seeking an experienced Virtualization Administrator for a remote contractual opportunity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the stability, security, availability and performance of enterprise virtualization infrastructure, with a primary focus on VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).

Working under the supervision of the IT Infrastructure Team Lead, the administrator will support daily infrastructure operations, incident resolution, lifecycle management, automation and continuous improvement.

Role Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer and maintain VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
• Support additional virtualization platforms, including Nutanix, Microsoft Hyper‑V and OLVM/KVM, as required.
• Perform VMware lifecycle patching, host updates and approved configuration changes.
• Monitor virtual machines, hosts, infrastructure health and capacity.
• Investigate and resolve virtualization incidents, performance bottlenecks and technical problems.
• Apply infrastructure security best practices and maintain compliance with relevant standards.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for infrastructure provisioning, administration and monitoring.
• Use Infrastructure as Code practices to improve operational efficiency.
• Participate in infrastructure improvements and proof‑of‑concept deployments.
• Collaborate with storage, networking, backup, security and operating‑system teams.
• Support approved infrastructure changes and follow established change‑management procedures.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and infrastructure records.
• Prepare reports on platform performance, health and capacity.
