Description

As the leader for the Controls and Software Strategic Business Unit (SBU), the Vice President is responsible for targeting, encouraging, and maintaining a market leadership position from a global perspective. They will lead across all regions to establish our C&S brands as the primary supplier within targeted industry segments. Through strategy setting, team leadership, market analysis, business and product development programs, pricing strategies, and portfolio management, the Vice President will define the SBU's overall business strategy, which will play a critical role in our financial performance.

This position will be based in Modena, Italy, or Augsburg, Germany, but we welcome applications from anyone willing to relocate to either location.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Generate and implement targeted, measurable growth plans through product and service solutions.
  • Mentor on improving methods to market to specific segments and regions, including relevant messaging.
  • Lead Emerson's strategic growth and profitability initiatives representing the C&S portfolio strategy.
  • Participate in key project and account planning and execution.
  • Evaluate and communicate market dynamics such as segment growth, new opportunities, and trends impacting divisional performance.
  • Oversee C&S pricing strategy and activities, aiming for consistent price increases annually.
  • Assess and prioritize market opportunities based on potential, customer feedback, and ROI.
  • Evaluate markets and business development opportunities outside current areas based on unmet customer needs and market segmentation.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Communications to generate collateral that effectively communicates our value proposition.
  • Develop processes and resources to evaluate and improve the product portfolio, including expansions, consolidations, or obsolescence.
  • Identify product gaps and white space opportunities, proposing new product development or R&D initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally to evaluate and prioritize new product and custom solutions that offer differentiated value.
  • Manage portfolio performance through lifecycle planning and profitability analysis.
  • Ensure effective training tools and materials are utilized by customer-facing personnel, updating sales collateral regularly.
  • Share successes across regions by coordinating campaigns and programs to leverage wins.
  • Lead and manage team activities aligned with our Vision and Mission, including communication, training, mentoring, performance feedback, recruitment, and employee development.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Relevant experience in sales, marketing, industrial hardware/software, or industry strategy management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including project management and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to apply analytics to business problems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~25%).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • 12+ years of sales/marketing experience.
  • 8+ years in industrial hardware/software industry.
  • 4+ years in general management or industry strategy management.
  • Advanced degree in Marketing or Business.
  • Experience leading direct reports.
  • Experience with PAC/PLC applications and services commercialization.
  • Experience in business development and B2B marketing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, multicultural environment.
