Our client, operates in the motorsports and automotive racing industry is seeking a Vehicle Simulation Software Engineer to join their team.
Job Title: Vehicle Simulation Software Engineer
Location: Santa Clarita, CA
Pay Range: $38 - $43
Job Responsibilities:
Design, produce, maintain, and refine mathematical software models and analysis tools for vehicle performance simulation and optimization.
Develop vehicle modeling simulation tools.
Program vehicle simulation models and systems in C++ or Dymola.
Create software tools for efficient chassis and vehicle performance data analysis (test rig, simulation, and circuit).
Design, implement, test, and maintain vehicle control system software.
Employ modern software development best practices.
Create and develop vehicle models for testing on the DIL simulator.
Gather characterization data for relevant vehicle systems.
Validate aero models in HRC’s vehicle performance simulation tools.
Work with HRC groups to validate powertrain models for vehicle simulation.
Contribute to the development of vehicle dynamics simulation platforms (debug and validate tools).
Support rig testing for system characterization, including suspension kinematics, center of mass, inertia, and wind tunnel testing.
Help create rig and track test plans, attend tests, and generate reports.
Present and report results in a clear, complete format.
Create and post technical reports in a timely manner.
Maintain documentation (including electronic records) per retention policies.
Liaise with HRC engineers, racing team partners, and other Honda entities.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration within HRC and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Master’s Degree preferred.
3+ years of experience processing and analyzing time-series data (time, frequency, spatial domains) using MATLAB or Python.
3+ years of software programming experience in C++.
3+ years of hands-on development experience with Dymola models (preferred).
3+ years of industry experience in software programming with MATLAB or Python.
3+ years of experience developing control systems using Simulink (preferred).
Proficiency in supervised machine learning for regression of non-linear models.
Technical knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles and chassis systems (aerodynamics, suspension, tires, etc.)
Must-Have Skills:
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) for technical information delivery.
Experience working in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to identify and resolve routine problems.
Strong proficiency with Windows PC and software, including MS Office products.
