Job summary

RINA is recruiting for a Trieste Safety Plan Approval Junior Engineer to join its Trieste, Italy office within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division. The role focuses on elaborating detailed plans and design reviews to meet client requirements and applicable standards for vessels and yachts.

Key accountabilities include reviewing safety and fire protection drawings, life-saving appliances, and equipment certificates, ensuring compliance with SOLAS and other regulations.

Qualifications

• Understanding of maritime safety regulations (SOLAS, IMO) and their application in safety plan approvals.
• Evaluate safety plans based on standards and regulations to ensure proper implementation on ships.
• Knowledge of ship safety systems including fire safety, life-saving appliances and evacuations.
• Experience with approving safety documentation and compliance evaluation against maritime regs.
• Ability to collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders to smooth the approval process.
• Strong communication and reporting skills for safety recommendations.
• Fluent in Italian and good working knowledge of technical English.

Mission

This role focuses on supporting the elaboration of detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements, ensuring client requirements and applicable standards are met. Projects could include the approval of new building, conversion, and existing vessels and yachts.

Key Accountabilities

• Review and approve drawings of safety, fire protection for ships and offshore units, on the basis of the assigned tasks.
• Review and approve drawings of lifesaving appliances and navigation lights for ships and offshore units, on the basis of the assigned tasks.
• Activities relevant to drawing approval for the issue of certificates for marine equipment for MED Directive and RINA Type Approval.

Qualifications

Possess a good part of the following knowledge/skills, or be strongly interested in acquiring them:

• Understanding of maritime safety regulations (SOLAS, IMO) and their application in the approval of safety plans for ships.
• Evaluate safety plans based on safety standards and regulations, ensuring proper implementation on ships.
• Knowledge of various safety systems on ships, including fire safety systems, life-saving appliances, and emergency evacuation procedures.
• Knowledge of the process of approving safety documentation for ships, including evaluating compliance with maritime safety regulations and recommending improvements.
• Ability to work closely with senior engineers and other stakeholders, providing support to ensure the safety plan approval process runs smoothly.
• Communication and reporting skills provide recommendations for safety improvements in compliance with regulations.
• Fluent in Italian; good working knowledge of technical English.

Education

Being at least a bachelor's degree graduate in Naval Engineering, or in the final stage of the degree program.

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480).

The gross annual salary range foreseen is between € 30.000 and € 36.000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies and overall alignment with the role.

In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements.

The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
