The Testing Digital and Data Acquisition Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and setting up data acquisition and calculation software in the testing areas of Florence, Massa, and Avenza plants. The role involves testing Baker Hughes rotating equipment, such as electric motors, generators, gas turbines, gearboxes, and centrifugal compressors, checking their operability, performance, and rotodynamic behavior.

The engineer will also drive the digitalization of test methodologies and implement related technologies.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Designing and setting up data acquisition systems, ensuring proper functionality of measurement systems, software interfaces, calculation modules, and data storage according to test specifications.
  2. Conducting data acquisition during tests, ensuring data quality, analyzing data for anomalies, and taking corrective actions when necessary.
  3. Post-processing data to identify equipment anomalies not immediately visible.
  4. Generating documentation and certificates for customers based on test data.
  5. Developing and verifying data acquisition systems, calculations, and analysis software, including hardware verification and data acquisition practices.
  6. Developing and verifying digital systems in testing areas, including network and system security, management systems, and servers.
  7. Managing relationships with Engineering and IT departments.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in automation, electronics, energy, telecommunications, informatics, mathematics, or physics, or relevant technical diploma with experience.
  • Holistic design mindset for hardware, software, and network solutions.
  • Knowledge of data analysis algorithms, waveform analysis, thermodynamics, and machine learning.
  • Programming skills in Fortran, Python, VB.NET, C#, LabVIEW, or PLC.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with high-precision measurement systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience as a software developer or system control designer.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English and Italian; ability to work in the EU.
