Human Technopole (HT) is a new interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. HT has the mission of conducting cutting-edge research and to translate innovation into methods and tools available to the entire National scientific community. To this end, HT is opening National Facilities - Human Technopole that will provide world-class research infrastructure in the areas of Structural Biology, Light Imaging Microscopy, Genomics, Genome Engineering, and Data Handling and Analysis, aimed at boosting Italian research by providing researchers working in Italy with free access to cutting-edge technologies and expertise.
The Human Technopole Foundation is seeking a Technician/Senior Technician in Laboratory Automation to join the National Facility for Genome Engineering & Disease Modelling - Human Technopole (GEDI) . GEDI advances patient-specific disease modeling by integrating stem cell biology, genome engineering technologies, and the generation of stem cell-derived tissue models. These technologies converge within a state-of-the-art automated laboratory, designed to translate, benchmark, and standardize experimental protocols into robust, reproducible workflows. The facility leverages high-throughput robotics and bioengineering platforms through a highly multidisciplinary framework.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Facility’s team to translate, optimize, and standardize laboratory protocols into scalable automated workflows
Moreover, the new colleague – reporting to the Head of Facility and working closely with the Manager of the Technology Development Unit – will operate within a multidisciplinary ecosystem that merges genome engineering, stem cell biology, and cancer biology applications into an innovative robotic platform, contributing to Human Technopole's vision of high-definition biomedicine.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Develop and validate automated workflows for cell culture protocols on liquid handling platforms.
Execute, oversee, and troubleshoot automated workflows supporting the generation and maintenance of 2D and 3D cell cultures.
Optimize and refine robotic liquid handling methodologies for complex cell biology applications.
Collaborate closely with Facility team members to develop and implement innovative automation solutions.
Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of robotic platforms, liaising effectively with equipment manufacturers.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reproducibility, and scalability of laboratory automation workflows.
Mandatory Requirements:
Master’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Proven hands-on experience in the development, optimization, and implementation of laboratory workflows
Minimum of one year of experience in scripting for laboratory automation, including liquid handling platforms and/or data management tasks
