Job Description

Human Technopole (HT) is a new interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. HT has the mission of conducting cutting-edge research and to translate innovation into methods and tools available to the entire National scientific community. To this end, HT is opening National Facilities that will provide world-class research infrastructure in the areas of Structural Biology, Light Imaging Microscopy, Genomics, Genome Engineering, and Data Handling and Analysis, aimed at boosting Italian research by providing researchers working in Italy with free access to cutting-edge technologies and expertise.

The National Facility for Genome Engineering and Disease Modeling (GEDI) is hiring a Technician / Senior Technician in Gene Editing to join the Gene Editing Unit. GEDI advances patient-specific disease modeling by integrating stem cell biology, genome engineering technologies, and the generation of stem cell-derived tissue models. These technologies converge within a state-of-the-art automated laboratory, designed to translate, benchmark, and standardize experimental protocols into robust, reproducible workflows. The facility leverages high-throughput robotics and bioengineering platforms through a highly multidisciplinary framework.

The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation and optimization of genome engineering pipelines, focusing on the generation of genome-edited pluripotent stem cells and other cell lines. Reporting to the Head of Facility and working closely with the Manager of the Gene Editing Unit, the new colleague will play a key role in delivering genome editing services and supporting research in the field.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Establish and standardize gene editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR-Cas-mediated NHEJ, HDR, base and prime editing) in pluripotent stem cells and cell lines.
  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot genome engineering experiments in coordination with the Facility team.
  • Develop and refine innovative genome engineering strategies.
  • Maintain detailed records of edited cell lines and associated inventory.
  • Support facility management tasks, including inventory control, equipment monitoring, and reagent / sample tracking.
