The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and be ready to travel. Competenze

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Professional software/system development experience (non-internship).
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language.
  • Experience designing and creating architecture for scalable systems.
  • Experience with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text programming language.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills.

System Development Engineer, WW AMZL In House Controls

We are seeking System Development Engineers to join our In-House Controls team within World-Wide Central Engineering. This global role requires a dynamic individual ready to travel and lead the deployment of cutting-edge automation solutions across our international network. The ideal candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset, demonstrate Bias for Action, and be prepared to lead complex software development and implementation for automation systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement software solutions for automation systems
  • Lead global deployments of software projects
  • Manage high-impact software releases to ensure minimal operational disruption
  • Train and mentor engineering team members
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to engineering reviews, impacting solutions for systems and architecture
  • Analyze system performance and provide optimization recommendations
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or equivalent
  • Professional software/system development experience (non-internship)
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language (e.g., C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
  • Experience designing and creating architecture for scalable systems using modern design patterns
  • Experience with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text programming language
  • PLC programming experience
  • Experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement
  • Excellent communication skills across diverse cultural contexts
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience with CODESYS development environment
  • Experience building and delivering complex software systems to customers
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems
  • Experience with building IoT solutions
  • Substantial experience in developing and implementing control system applications for industrial automation
  • Experience programming with CODESYS
  • Experience building tools for building, testing, releasing, or monitoring
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) new and existing systems
  • Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as per business needs
About the team

Our In-House Controls (IHC) team within World-Wide Central Engineering develops, deploys, and scales automated solutions globally. We deliver pioneering solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing and new facilities worldwide. IHC will develop and deploy the software for all future WW AMZL automation, from software design through to commissioning and deployment and operational on-call support.
