Job Description: SW Test Engineer at RINA

RINA is currently recruiting for a SW Test Engineer to join its office in L'aquila within the Aerospace & Defence Division.

Mission

The role focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our software products through rigorous testing and verification activities. You will work closely with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and execute test cases to validate software functionality and performance. The ideal candidate has a background in software verification and testing methodologies.

Key Accountabilities

• Test Equipment Development: Develop, install, configure, and validate the software of the Test Equipment starting from requirements.
• Test Planning and Strategy: Develop detailed test cases and test scripts based on requirements and design specifications.
• Testing Execution: Execute functional, regression, performance, and system integration tests; conduct manual and automated testing; identify, analyze, and document defects and inconsistencies.
• Validation Activities: Validate software functionality against requirements, perform usability testing, and ensure UI consistency.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain test documentation, communicate results to stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in testing lifecycle.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work with developers and teams to resolve issues and verify fixes; report testing progress and results.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; Master’s Degree in Engineering (general).

Qualifications

Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Python) for testing and test equipment implementation. Preferable skills include LabWindows/CVI, NI TestStand framework, measurement instruments (network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, RF network, power supply), and controlling instruments via SCPI commands.
