Offer Description

The activity aims to support the olive and olive oil supply chain by identifying genetic and epigenetic determinants associated with the main agronomic and quality traits of olive. The study will be carried out on about 200 genotypes representative of Italian genetic resources, varieties from other countries and materials derived from inter-varietal crosses, from which the most informative ones will be selected for each trait. The researcher will conduct genetic analyses and association studies to identify variants associated with the traits of interest, integrating these findings with epigenetic and transcriptomic data through a multi-omics approach. This will allow the identification of candidate genes, variants and epialleles involved in the control of the traits, useful for the development of molecular markers for olive breeding programmes, benefiting the competitiveness and sustainability of the supply chain.
