Overview

Sustainability Application Engineer – Transformers Europe supports sustainability expertise for transformer products and applications. This role partners with Sales teams in Marketing & Sales activities, and represents the Global Product Group/Business Unit in Europe by promoting sustainability strategies, gathering customer requirements, advising on specification development, and reporting market data, customer needs, tenders, and regulations related to sustainability.

Responsibilities
  • Promote sustainability strategies and portfolios internally and to customers.
  • Gather customer requirements and advise on specification development.
  • Support and train M&S teams in sustainability solutions for transformer products.
  • Report market data, customer needs, tenders, and regulations related to sustainability; provide strategic marketing input for analysis and competitive assessment.
  • Manage European markets by engaging with current and potential customers, delivering technical support aimed at influencing technical specifications early in the process.
  • Collaborate with Hitachi Energy stakeholders (HSE, engineering, operations, supply chain management) to align objectives and communicate a clear value proposition to customers.
  • Support the sales team at the pre-tender stage, engaging with customers to understand specs and norms, influence technical specs, create value propositions, and demonstrate technical leadership.
  • Contribute to marketing and communication activities, including fairs, customer events, and technical articles and press releases.
  • Support strategic tenders with sustainability strategies to boost the transformer portfolio’s competitiveness; assist factories with custom tender requirements such as sustainability roadmaps and questionnaires.
Your Background
  • More than 10 years of experience in sustainability, technical roles (R&D, Electrical Engineering, Design), project management, product marketing, sales, or business development within relevant industry sectors.
  • Engineering degree from an accredited university; Master’s degree in B2B Marketing is an advantage.
  • Previous experience preferably with transformer businesses.
  • Strong technical skills complemented by marketing experience.
  • Solid background in sustainability aspects relevant to the industry (efficiency, biodegradable fluids, materials, LCA calculations, third-party verification of environmental data such as EPD/PEP Ecopassport, and related regulations in Europe).
  • Intercultural sensitivity with good communication skills across multinational teams; comfortable speaking publicly and leading technical discussions on sustainability topics with customers and technical committees.
  • Global/regional experience and strong English; knowledge of multiple languages is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
