Job Description

Supply Chain/Packaging Specialist

Michigan Automotive Compressor, Inc. (MACI), a world-class manufacturer of air conditioning compressors and magnetic clutches, is a joint venture between Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) and DENSO.

We are the largest manufacturer in Jackson County and hold the largest market share in North America, thanks to our commitment to quality.

The Packaging and Logistics Specialist manages all aspects of returnable packaging related to production and manufacturing at MACI. This includes maintaining inventory for production support, developing customer returnable packaging for new models (including design approval and specifications), and handling inventory, distribution, and procurement of supplier packaging for raw materials. The role also oversees multiple transportation modes such as import drayage, domestic, and expedite moves. Additionally, the specialist creates and maintains the departmental annual packaging budget aligned with Production Control’s overall budget.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer returnable, supplier returnable, and backup expendable packaging.
• Collaborate with customers on engineering, design approval, phaseout, and buyoff of packaging.
• Conduct physical inventory of warehouse with internal and external auditors.
• Arrange domestic and international freight shipments (outbound and inbound).
• Calculate warehouse space requirements and optimize layout.
• Create and maintain department budget accounts, including packaging, freight in, and freight out.

Minimum Requirements

• Four-year degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially spreadsheets.
• Strong analytical skills, with excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.

Preferred Experience

• Managing customer returnable packaging inventory.
• Customer service focus.
• Experience with Carrier Management Systems.
• Conducting packaging cycle counts.
• Managing packaging budgets.
• Using AS400 and customer portals.
