ABB E-mobility is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to strengthen the Quality organization and drive supplier excellence across a global supply base. You will proactively manage quality, compliance, and supply chain risks while partnering with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards throughout the product lifecycle.

We are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to strengthen our Quality organization and drive supplier excellence across our global supply base. In this role, you will proactively manage quality, compliance, and supply chain risks while partnering with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Your Responsibilities

• Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and Procurement to proactively build quality into supplier raw materials, components, subassemblies, finished goods, and products supplied by contract manufacturers, OEMs, and ODMs.
• Represent Supplier Quality in product development, sourcing, industrialization, supplier management, and make-or-buy activities, providing technical input during supplier selection and sourcing decisions.
• Lead supplier qualification activities, including approval of new suppliers, manufacturing sites, processes, and components, ensuring Critical-to-X (CtX) requirements are appropriately addressed.
• Plan, lead, and execute supplier audits, including quality system, process, product, critical process, and sub-tier supplier audits, ensuring compliance with ABB requirements and relevant industry standards.
• Drive supplier development initiatives through targeted improvement plans, coaching, capability-building programs, and follow-up assessments to enhance supplier performance and maturity.
• Lead APQP activities and manage PPAP deliverables, ensuring supplier process readiness, successful product launches, and robust lifecycle management through a structured phase-gate approach.
• Apply a proactive risk-based approach to supplier quality by conducting risk assessments using FMEA, supplier risk-rating methodologies, and quality system evaluations, developing mitigation plans before issues impact production or customers.
• Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as DPPM, Quality Notifications, audit findings, corrective action effectiveness, delivery performance, and supplier risk scorecards, driving structured escalation when required.
• Lead Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), root cause investigations, and 8D problem-solving activities, ensuring timely implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Partner with Product Quality, R&D, Operations, and Procurement to validate critical supplier processes, assess supplier capacity and scalability, ensure regulatory compliance, promote lean improvement initiatives, and champion a proactive derisking culture across suppliers, sites, and business units.

Your Background

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, or a comparable role within a complex industrial environment.
• Proven experience managing supplier qualification, supplier development, supplier performance, and supplier risk management activities.
• Strong expertise in supplier auditing, process validation protocols, quality system assessments, and manufacturing process evaluations.
• Extensive knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PSW, and their effective integration into supplier quality and product lifecycle management processes.
• Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies including FMEA, Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), DMAIC, Design for Six Sigma (DfSS), Root Cause Analysis, and 8D problem solving.
• Strong risk management mindset with demonstrated ability to proactively identify, assess, communicate, and mitigate quality, compliance, delivery, and supply chain risks.
• Ability to lead, influence, and coach suppliers as well as cross-functional teams, fostering effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement across multiple functions and regions.
• Good knowledge of ISO 9001 and preferably IATF 16949, with familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and automotive quality requirements.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, combined with proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with SAP QM.

Compensation Package

The employment framework is based on the National Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL) for the Metalworking Industry, with an indicative level of B2/B3 and a minimum gross annual salary starting from € 35.000,00. The specific level and compensation package will be defined based on the outcome of the selection process (including experience, skills set, and role fit), in accordance with objective, transparent, and gender-neutral criteria, in line with pay equity and equal opportunity principles. The total compensation package will also include a variable bonus linked to individual and company targets.
