Supplier Development Manager - Casting and Machining

For our Italian Branch located in Caponago (MB) we are seeking a committed and proactive:

Supplier Development Manager – Casting and Machining

The Supplier Development Manager is a function within the Global Category Management and Supply Chain Development department of Systems Division, designated to manage the development of new and existing suppliers, developing capabilities of suppliers and the production network while ensuring reliability of the supply chain in close cooperation with strategic procurement and technical matter experts. The function supports the strategic and operational procurement functions on a global basis in the technical selection of suppliers, evaluation, as well as development of suppliers for parts requirements in the area of casting and machining. As an important part of the role, the function supports and coordinates with various internal functions like Engineering, Procurement (Strategic and Operational), Value Engineering, and Order Management in affairs related to the development of suppliers, products, as well as the Group Production network.

The main tasks will include:

• Lead and execute projects for the development of parts with new or existing suppliers or improvement projects with existing suppliers.
• Lead and execute the technical and quality audits at new suppliers/suppliers under development or for re-assessment in cooperation with the Technical and Quality department.
• Define action plans with suppliers in development on gaps and improvements necessary for qualification & improvements.
• Monitor and support suppliers with the help of technical experts on identified parts, problems, and agreed improvement actions on quality and delivery performance.
• Lead, execute, and manage the trial orders at newly developed suppliers/suppliers under development till handover to Operational Procurement/Purchasing including coordination and monitoring of the prototype parts validation process for planning and obtaining results to release suppliers for operational buying.
• Lead and execute designated Make or Buy Projects.
• Coordinate with internal interfaces like Engineering and Category Management, technical specialists, and operational procurement as necessary during development phases and implementation of learnings as well as process optimization.

Candidate Profile:

• University Degree / HF in Technical subject (Mechanical or similar).
• 5-8 years' experience in Operational or Strategic Procurement with an additional 2-3 years' experience in Supplier Development.
• Education and/or practical experience in the heavy engineering products industry with different products and systems.
• Understanding and experience with casting and machining supply chain related projects.
• Education, training, or experience in Project Management will be of benefit.
• Experience/Knowledge of working in SAP-Environment.
• Experience/knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office tools and presentation techniques.
• Fluent in English (verbal, reading, and writing) - Any other language skills are of added advantage.
