Job Description
The DC Network Strategic Project Leader is responsible for the definition and execution of strategic projects aimed at improving performance across different operational areas, specifically EHS, People Engagement, Quality, Cost and Productivity. In his/her role, the use of Lean/Six Sigma tools is key in identifying opportunities within any functional area to improve business results. He/she reports to the DC Network Operations Manager.
REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES: Activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Model and promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values.
- Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.
- Be a change agent – challenge old ways of doing business and implement breakthrough improvements. Motivate others to accept process changes and take ownership.
- Analyze and draw information for long-term strategic change and improvement for multiple Distribution Centers. Support team members in the design and implementation of operational improvement strategies for safety, people engagement, cost, quality and productivity.
- Drive execution of DC Network strategic plans, help set operations improvement goals, ensure priorities and accountabilities are clear.
- Successfully initiate and lead and implement projects assigned.
- Develop in-depth understanding of Enterprise Lean Sigma philosophy and methods as demonstrated by successful training and certification in these areas.
- Focus on improving more complex performance through ELS efforts.
- Ensure tracking and use of key performance indicators to promote improved operational and business results.
- Train, educate, and mentor others in the organization on Lean/Sigma principles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or related.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- 4 - 5 years project management or related experience. Experience in leading others and managing cross-functional projects.
- Good facilitation, customer service, relationship building and communication skills.
- Good project management skills with knowledge of Excel or Project Management tracking software (e.g. Microsoft Project).
- Detail oriented, strong analytical skills & organizational skills.
- Problem management skills.
- Experience with applying ELS / DfLS (six sigma and lean manufacturing) methods & tools preferred.
- Comfort and confidence in interacting with / presenting to all levels in an organization
- Good business acumen.
- Ability to influence effectively without authority.
