Location / Division Specific Information

The team focuses on data democratization using a range of services from Oracle Exadata to modern data warehouse solutions. These data are used throughout the company to enable commercial operations, audience generation, and sales activities. Your work will be seen and used by data scientists, business partners, sales representatives, and customers of Thermo Fisher. You are expected to learn quickly and offer creative and efficient solutions to new challenges.

You will report to a senior team member and function as a key asset within the Corporate Data Science Center of Excellence, which includes data scientists, data engineers, business analysts, and project managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy data solutions using industry-standard technology stacks independently
  • Collaborate with data scientists and cross-functional teams to gather and fulfill requirements
  • Follow agile methodologies to deliver solutions and product features, adhering to DevOps practices

Education and Experience

4-year degree in computer science (or equivalent) OR 8-10 years of experience in data services/data engineering

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • At least 8 years of experience with Python and SQL
  • Fluency in Databricks and Spark, including pipeline development, automation, and monitoring
  • Experience designing and managing relational database solutions like Delta Lake, Oracle, and AWS Redshift
  • Minimum 5 years managing AWS products such as Spark, Glue, Kafka, Elastic Search, Lambda, S3, Redshift, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently and efficiently
  • Proficiency with version control systems like git and Jenkins
  • A proactive self-starter capable of delivering complex solutions swiftly
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
