Job Opportunity: IT Specialist - Venture Ship Management Europe Srl (Genoa Office)
Venture Ship Management Europe Srl, a leading and expanding ship management company, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Specialist to join our team at our Genoa office. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our critical IT infrastructure, supporting both our shore-based operations and our global fleet.
We're looking for an individual with a strong foundation in IT systems and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
As an IT Specialist, you'll be crucial in ensuring the smooth and secure operation of our IT systems. Your duties will mainly include:
- Being the person in charge for office and fleet Cyber Security
- Operating System Management: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of both Windows Server and Windows Client operating systems.
- Active Directory Administration: Managing user accounts, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to ensure efficient network services.
- Microsoft 365 Administration: Administering user accounts, Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint to support collaboration and communication across the company.
- Networking Fundamentals: Providing basic support for network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and Wi-Fi networks.
- Software Support: Assisting users with the Microsoft Office suite and other general business applications.
- Videoconferencing & VoIP Systems: Providing basic support for videoconferencing systems and VoIP telephone systems.
- Helpdesk & Troubleshooting: Acting as a point of contact for IT issues, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, and ensuring timely resolution.
- Vessel IT Infrastructure: Guaranteeing that the IT infrastructure on our managed vessels functions properly and is consistently available. This includes network mapping and stability, server operations, and software functionality onboard.
- Onboard Travel & Support: Being available to travel worldwide to vessels to prepare the new vessels coming into management and troubleshoot any IT-related issues.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate IT documentation, including system configurations and troubleshooting guides.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar IT support or administration role.
- Windows Expertise: Strong knowledge of Windows Server and client operating systems (installation, configuration, troubleshooting).
- Active Directory: Solid understanding and practical experience with Active Directory, including user management, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs.
- Microsoft 365: Demonstrated experience in administering Microsoft 365 services (user management, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint).
- Networking Basics: Foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including firewalls, switches, and Wi-Fi.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Communication: Good communication skills, both verbal and written, in Italian and English.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel onboard vessels as required.
- Preferred (but not essential):
- Knowledge of Planned Maintenance System (PMS) software used in shipping (e.g., AMOS, Infoship).
- Experience with basic videoconferencing and VoIP telephone systems.
- Experience on most common AI tools
- Experience on shipping business
