Space Systems Electronics Engineer – Mixed-Signal Digital Design

We are seeking a Space Systems Electronics Engineer with expertise in mixed-signal digital design for Data Link Systems and Radar applications in space environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing high-performance digital circuits, data acquisition systems, and signal processing units for CubeSats, SmallSats, and spacecraft payloads. This role focuses on digital and mixed-signal electronics , excluding RF design.

Main tasks and responsibilities :

  • Design and develop digital and mixed-signal electronic circuits and PCBs for spaceborne Data Link Systems and Radars.
  • Develop high-speed data acquisition and processing systems , including ADCs, DACs, and FPGA-based processing units.
  • Design and integrate high-speed serial interfaces (e.g., LVDS, SPI, SpaceWire, JESD204, PCIe) for data communication.
  • Implement FPGA-based signal processing architectures using VHDL / Verilog and optimize for power and performance.
  • Work on power management and low-noise mixed-signal design to ensure signal integrity and system reliability.
  • Develop radiation-tolerant electronics for space environments, considering TID, SEE, and latch-up mitigation.
  • Perform functional, thermal, and radiation testing of mixed-signal electronics.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to ensure compatibility and integration of electronic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize digital and analog front-end circuits for data link and radar signal processing.
  • Support design reviews, documentation, and manufacturing coordination for space-qualified electronics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field .
  • Experience in mixed-signal digital circuit design for high-speed data acquisition and signal processing .
  • Proficiency in PCB design and layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad, OrCAD, Cadence Allegro).
  • Strong knowledge of FPGAs (Xilinx, Intel / Altera, Microsemi) and HDL programming (VHDL, Verilog) .
  • Experience with high-speed digital design techniques , including signal integrity, power integrity, and jitter reduction.
  • Familiarity with radiation effects on electronics (TID, SEE, SEU) and mitigation strategies .
  • Hands-on experience in debugging, testing, and validation of electronic systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and test benches.
  • Understanding of ECSS, NASA, and MIL-STD standards for space electronics .

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing digital signal processing (DSP) systems for radar and data links.
  • Knowledge of low-noise analog front-end design for mixed-signal systems .
  • Experience with radiation-tolerant microcontrollers and SoCs for space applications .
  • Familiarity with high-reliability PCB manufacturing for spaceflight hardware .
  • Hands-on experience with environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, radiation testing) .

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge space-based Data Link Systems and Radar payloads .
  • A dynamic and innovative work environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Hands-on experience with real spaceflight hardware and testing .
