Job summary

cosine is seeking a Thermo-Mechanical Engineer to help shape the next generation of space-borne optical instruments. Based with our Italian team, you will contribute to missions on satellites and asteroid explorers where performance and reliability matter in orbit.

You will work in a small, international team with a start-up mindset, owning design decisions from concept through qualification testing and delivering hardware that flies in space.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Experience in thermo-mechanical design and analysis for space, aerospace, or high-tech engineering.
• Strong understanding of thermal and structural behavior under extreme conditions.
• Hands-on hardware development, integration, and testing experience.
• Ability to work in small international teams and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the thermo-mechanical design of high-precision optical instruments for space applications.
• Perform thermal and structural analyses to ensure performance under launch and orbital conditions.
• Support the full development cycle from concept design through to assembly, integration, and qualification testing.
• Collaborate closely with optical, mechanical, and system engineers in an international multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to solving complex engineering challenges in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
