Solution Architect
The Solution Architect, with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, is responsible for designing optimal solutions that meet customer needs and constraints such as costs, norms, cybersecurity, manufacturability, serviceability, and reuse.
The architect should be knowledgeable about architecture frameworks, modeling tools, and methods, with a sufficient understanding of business context to prioritize design constraints and drivers.
Main activities
- Identify and analyze requirements (Contractual and System Requirements phase), define architecture, allocate requirements to system components, and define interfaces between components.
- Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of solutions; explore alternatives.
- Define architecture, subsystems, and their interfaces.
- Develop solutions during System Design and Development phases, including system integration, verification, validation, and qualification (System Integration and Acceptance phases).
- Produce Migration Plans when required, identifying constraints and priorities.
- Create system documents and review product specifications/architectures.
- Define, explore, and support implementation of enablers.
- Support technological and engineering aspects for bids and projects.
- Oversee solution integrity with the Configuration Manager.
- Provide support for deployment, installation, and site acceptance activities.
- Ensure coordination and communication among various technical teams and facilitate a smooth transition to the "Installation and Commissioning" organization.
- Coordinate with the technical Customer Counterpart according to contractual requirements.
- Participate in program and project meetings (internal and external) with customers, subcontractors, and other entities as scheduled or requested.
- Support technical discussions with vendors and subcontractors.
- Apply quality procedures and HSE instructions correctly.
- Propose variation requests to SEM/PM for customer submission.
- Assist the Purchasing Department in defining subcontracts and standard clauses for SubContract Agreements and Purchase Orders.
Skills and experience
- Knowledge of System Engineering disciplines and processes.
- Experience in managing customer and supplier relationships.
- Ability to interface with people in an international context.
- Fluency in Italian and English.
- Minimum 8 years of proven experience designing complex solutions for System Integration Projects.
- Availability to travel.
- Experience in design, integration, and validation of systems such as:
- Virtualized architectures (hardware, hypervisor, software).
- Operational Control Centers.
- Communication Systems (fiber optics, IP networking, security, PABX, VoIP, WLAN, TETRA, LTE, structured cabling, public address systems).
- Tramway Signaling Systems.
- Video Communication Systems (displays, passenger info, broadcasting, TV systems).
- Security Systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, recording, fire systems).
- SCADA, environmental control, building management, and information systems.
Additional competencies appreciated:
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity and information security (firewalling, access control, packet inspection, intruder detection).
