Moneyfarm in Turbigo, Italy is looking for a Scala engineer to join a dynamic cross-functional development team. You will address architectural challenges and contribute to backend development while ensuring high-quality code. About the Role

You will be a Scala engineer in a cross‑functional development team. Likely technical challenges you will face in your first year will be related to adapting the architecture of our systems with strong customer growth in mind. Over time you will become the go‑to person within the team for backend development and will take initiative to learn and research new technologies, delivering code of great quality and keeping technical debt under control. A successful candidate will be pragmatic, collaborative, value simplicity and effectiveness, and be biased for action. Key Responsibilities

• Build an understanding of the Moneyfarm architecture as a whole, develop in alignment with it and contribute to plans for improvement.
• Produce code of great quality with the right degree of test coverage.
• Review code constructively and work with colleagues to continuously improve the way we work.
• Keep abreast of technological developments in the industry and their relevance to the company.
• Share your knowledge and apply it to improve the Moneyfarm systems and the lives of your colleagues.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of commercial experience in software engineering; a BSc in Software Engineering or Computer Science, or a higher degree is nice to have.
• Scala commercial experience is highly preferred, but transferable skills in Java 8+, Kotlin, etc. are acceptable.
• Typescript experience is a plus.
• Experience with microservices architectures, event‑streaming systems, and cloud providers; knowledge of Kafka, Kubernetes and AWS is a plus.
• Good understanding of agile methodologies (particularly Kanban/Lean), their principles and ceremonies.
• Experience working with Git and performing code reviews.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitLab CI.
• Focus on testing and extraordinary attention to detail.
• Experience in fintech or wealth management is a plus.
• Effective communication in English (written and spoken); Italian is a plus.

Level & Compensation

We apply CCNL Credito and, based on the candidate’s experience and skills, we will assign the title of Software Engineer II.

The salary ranges for this role are as follows:

• Software Engineer II: €38 000 to €48 000 gross per year plus bonus.
