Client Server in Milan is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and develop features on our digital wealth platform, with a focus on Java, Kotlin and Scala.

You will join a cross-functional agile team, own parts of the architecture, and mentor junior engineers while helping scale the system. The role offers hybrid work with Milan office visits and a competitive package up to €48,000.

Backend Software Engineer / Developer (Java Scala) Milan / WFH to €48,000

Are you a backend focussed Software Engineer with Scala, Java or Kotlin experience?

You could be joining a successful and growing Digital Wealth Management scale-up that offers a range of investment services to the public via their advanced technology platform which makes smart investing easier and accessible to all.

As a Backend Software Engineer you'll join a cross functional Agile development team to design and develop new features on the platform as well as looking at ways to improve scalability. There are many technical challenges to tackle, you'll be working with Scala (you can pick this up on the job) across the full development lifecycle, producing quality, well tested code.

As a senior member of the team you will own parts of the architecture, contribute to technical discussions and decision making, evaluate new technologies and approaches and will also help to mentor more junior team members.

Work From Home policy:

You can work from home most of the time but must be able to get to the office in Milan twice a week for team meetings.

About you:

• You have strong backend software development experience - you may have a Java or Kotlin background but be comfortable with picking up Scala and using it going forward
• You have experience with REST APIs
• You're a keen technologist who loves to learn and pick up new skills
• You have good analysis and problem solving skills
• You have good English language skills; Italian is also if benefit but not necessary
