Job summary

S&T Italy is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Rome team. You will develop Python-based software for satellite data processing, build web dashboards with Django and Grafana, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Docker/VM environments.

You will work with PostgreSQL, Git, and modern tools, communicating in English. The role combines development, testing, and customer-facing activities in a hybrid Rome setup.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong Python skills; knowledge of C++, Java or C# is a plus.
• Experience with Django and Grafana.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar databases.
• Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD (GitLab CI, Jenkins), Docker and VMs.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and document software in Python within a team.
• Develop web applications and dashboards using Django and Grafana.
• Maintain build, test and documentation infrastructure, including CI/CD pipelines.
• Package and deploy apps in Docker/VM environments.
• Contribute to project docs: requirements, design, test docs.

The role

To strengthen and grow our engineering team in Rome, we are looking for a Software Engineer.

What you’ll do

• Develop, test and document software within a team, mainly in Python
• Develop web applications and monitoring dashboards using frameworks such as Django and Grafana
• Maintain the build, test and documentation infrastructure for a mission or project, including CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins)
• Package and deploy applications in containerised and virtualised environments (Docker, VMs)
• Contribute to project documentation, such as requirements, design and test documents
• Take part in project reviews and in verification and validation activities
• Support the operation and maintenance of delivered systems, including troubleshooting and resolving issues
• Present and discuss technical solutions directly with the customer

What you bring

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• A degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or an equivalent proven track record
• Strong Python skills, experience with at least one of C++, Java or C# is a plus
• Experience with web frameworks such as Django and with monitoring and visualisation tools such as Grafana, or equivalents
• Knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
• Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD (GitLab CI, Jenkins), virtual machines and Docker
• Clear communication and collaboration skills, with fluent written and spoken English

Nice to have

• Experience with requirements-driven projects, ideally using space engineering standards such as ECSS
