Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Software Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate should be comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples, Italy.

Accountabilities

1. Define Software Requirement Specifications for Wayside Equipment (RBC).
2. Design Software Architecture for Wayside Equipment (RBC).
3. Coding and debugging of Wayside Applications (RBC) according to applicable specifications, coding standards, and norms.
4. Collaborate with other STS teams to efficiently integrate Wayside Equipment within complex signaling systems to meet project delivery objectives.

Required Skills / Knowledge

• Experience in developing small to medium-sized software projects, including real-time features.
• Advanced knowledge of software engineering techniques and programming languages (C, C++).
• Good experience with modeling languages (UML).
• Basic knowledge of software configuration management techniques and tools.
• Basic understanding of communication protocols.
• Basic knowledge of concurrent programming.
• Excellence in achieving objectives.
• Ability to develop a comprehensive system-level view of problems.
• Strong problem-solving skills, both theoretical (mathematical/logical models) and practical (laboratory/debugging).
• Ability to lead small software development teams and share competencies.
• Proactivity and team spirit.

Education

Technical University Degree in Informatics, Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering.

Language

Proficient in spoken and written English.
