Job Description

The full-stack software engineering role will contribute to accelerating the automation and digitization efforts of the laboratory operation for UL Solutions. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, data scientists, architects, and other engineers working to develop digital tools and automation solutions for the lab. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing web applications and contributing to enterprise digitization efforts. In this role, you will collaborate closely with users, product teams, technology teams, and management. This position requires a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement. Our primary technology stack includes JavaScript / TypeScript and Python hosted in Azure.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a multidisciplinary team developing software solutions for the lab.
• Deliver software solutions, features, and resolve issues.
• Work closely with users, understanding workflows and feedback.
• Develop and modify information system programs.
• Support the implementation of requirements across platforms and systems.
• Analyze and resolve application issues.
• Monitor project progress and report on activity.
• Improve system performance through investigation and technology trends.
• Collaborate effectively within a team.
• Adhere to UL's Code of Conduct and security practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• 3+ years experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue.js, React.js, Angular).
• 3+ years backend web development experience with frameworks like Django, Flask, FastAPI.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Nice-to-have: Experience in electrical labs, proficiency with Git/GitHub, working with TypeScript, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), Docker, Linux scripting, and project management tools.
