Angelini Technologies - Fameccanica seeks a Software Design Engineer to join the Automation Converting Engineering team. The role offers a path into Platforming & Engineering Tools or Automation & Motion Control, with responsibilities spanning configurator development, template creation, C# applications, and hardware/software process integration.

The position requires a degree in a relevant field and experience in industrial automation or software programming.

Angelini Technologies - Fameccanica is seeking a Software Design Engineer to join its Automation Converting Engineering team.

Based on the candidate’s individual skills and aptitudes, the successful applicant may join one of the following areas:

• Platforming & Engineering Tools: development and maintenance of configurators, templates, software libraries, and EPLAN macros supporting hardware and software engineering activities.
• Automation & Motion Control: programming of automation systems, development of motion control solutions, and use of Rockwell technologies for projects delivered to international customers.

The successful candidate will work in a technical, multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with software and hardware engineers, automation specialists, Platforming and prototyping teams and—depending on the area of assignment—with customers and production personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain configurators and applications supporting engineering activities.
• Create and update templates, software libraries, and EPLAN macros.
• Develop C# applications using object-oriented programming principles.
• Contribute to the standardization and integration of hardware and software engineering processes.
• Collaborate with engineering and prototyping teams to gather requirements and improve the tools they use.

Automation & Motion Control

• Program and configure industrial automation systems, primarily using the Rockwell platform.
• Support the development of motion control solutions for industrial machinery and processes.
• Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, validation, and commissioning activities.
• Use the development environments, standards, and tools adopted by the customer.
• Collaborate with the customer’s technical contacts and production personnel, including at customer and other off-site locations.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous experience in industrial automation, software programming, or electrical design is preferred. Recent graduates with relevant internship or project experience will also be considered.

Technical and Language Skills

• Understanding of the fundamental principles of industrial automation.
• Knowledge of software and/or PLC programming fundamentals.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and logical reasoning skills.
• Excellent command of English.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS — PLATFORMING & ENGINEERING TOOLS

• Knowledge of object-oriented programming and C#.
• Knowledge of markup and data interchange languages, such as XML and JSON, for managing macros and libraries.
• Familiarity with configurators, templates, and tools used to standardize engineering projects.
• Knowledge of version control systems, including Git and Azure DevOps.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS — AUTOMATION & MOTION CONTROL

• Knowledge of PLC programming and motion control principles, including knowledge gained through academic studies.
• Knowledge of Rockwell Automation software development platforms; familiarity with Siemens technologies is a plus.
• Ability to understand industrial machinery and manufacturing processes.
• Customer-focused approach and willingness to travel within Italy and internationally.
