Description

Progress Rail Signaling Spa is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Site Manager.

The position is based at our offices in Pistoia, Roma, Genova, and Bologna.

Founded in 1958 in Pistoia, Italy, as ECM, Progress Rail Signaling Spa has over sixty years of experience servicing railway infrastructure with a focus on innovation and cutting-edge technology. We are leaders in producing power supply units for railways and stations, signaling systems with LED technology, Automatic Train Protection Systems, and ERTMS systems both trackside and trainborne.

Our Computer Based Interlocking system offers scalability and flexibility, managing hundreds of miles of railway from a central control room. As part of Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, we provide comprehensive signaling solutions worldwide under the ECM brand.

Job Purpose

The Site Manager oversees and coordinates railway infrastructure projects, managing on-site activities, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and delivering projects on time and within budget. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work in multicultural environments and adapt to local regulations.

This role acts as the company's representative on-site and serves as the main liaison between the Project Manager and construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage on-site subcontractors and external resources, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulations.
  • Supervise all on-site construction activities related to railway infrastructure.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations and produce required reports and documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment start-up, commissioning activities, and quality checks.
  • Prepare site accounts and support project accounting and meetings.
  • Verify material provisioning and maintain inventory records.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance, including subcontractor adherence.
  • Interface with the Project Manager through regular reporting and meetings.
  • Apply and archive Quality File documentation (POS).
  • Be available for management activities via phone and on-call for site interventions under warranty.
  • Provide attendance across multiple sites for different projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, preferably from an electronic technical institute.
  • ISO; ISO1 course certification.
  • Security officer qualification (Preposto alla Sicurezza) per D. Lgs. 81/08.
  • Experience with FIDIC contracts or similar standards.
  • On-site protection course certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments.
  • Flexibility, precision, good relational skills, and resource management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and subcontractors.
  • Technical support experience for critical failures on strategic facilities.
  • Willingness to travel within Italy and abroad (up to 80% of working hours).
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
