We are currently seeking a Senior Thermal Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Piove di Sacco (PD), Italy!

We are seeking an experienced Senior Thermal Software Engineer to support the development of our global thermal rating tool. In this role, you will write efficient and extensible code implementing state-of-the-art architecture. You will work in a scrum team of diverse engineers, developers, and product owners located around the world to build a web-based product configurator and thermal calculation tool.

What kind of work will you be doing?

  • Write accurate yet fast solving mathematical models of HVAC components such as evaporators, condensers, compressors, fluid connections, fans, pumps, etc., using physics-based equations.
  • Code efficient and stable algorithms to simulate performance of single/multi-circuit HVAC systems such as chilled-water, air-cooled, water-cooled, chiller, pumped refrigeration, etc.
  • Fine-tune and calibrate thermal models against lab data following a scientific approach.
  • Perform complex data analysis, properly document results, and prepare presentations.
  • Establish a detailed program specification through discussion with software architects and developers.
  • Lead design verification testing phase as a proof of concept.
  • Work as part of a team in a global, multicultural environment.
  • Review existing solutions, identify deficiencies in design, and implement fixes.
  • Follow industry standard best practices and design principles to build a maintainable and scalable code base.
  • Conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
  • Provide support to users and internal customers.

What will make you successful?

  • MS Degree in mechanical, energy, or thermodynamics engineering or related science.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and developing .Net C#, SQL, Angular 2+.
  • Practical knowledge of numerical methods, especially in the context of single and multi-dimension root solvers.
  • Deep understanding and proficiency with data modeling, OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, clean architecture, Unit Testing, and .Net core framework through extensive work experience.
  • Extensive experience in analyzing code for weaknesses and errors, and overseeing plans to improve them.
  • Hands-on experience in building scalable applications with patterns such as Domain Driven Design, Test Driven Development, or Command-Query.
  • Practical knowledge of strategies for software performance optimization, security, scalability, and extensibility.
  • Experience with CI/CD, including Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies and practices.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a responsible team player.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and communication tools like MS Teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly.
  • A proven track record of technical excellence in HVAC system modeling and simulation.
  • Strong background in single and two-phase fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Deep understanding of HVAC system components through extensive work experience.
  • Strong coding and unit-testing skills using modern object-oriented programming languages.
  • Native Italian speaker or excellent verbal and written communication skills in Italian.
  • Residing or considering relocating near the Vertiv site in Tognana (Padova) is a plus.
