Job description

Our client is a leading international, family-owned group operating in the distribution and manufacturing of plastic materials and chemicals, based in Mornico al Serio (BG) and with a presence across multiple continents. To support its continued growth, the group is reinforcing its Global Tax team with a Senior Tax Specialist based in Italy.

THE ROLE

The position reports to the Group Tax Manager based in Dubai and works closely with the Italian management team. You will act as the reference point for all Italian tax matters, covering direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, Pillar Two, tax accounting and, above all, tax controversy. You will manage relations with the Italian tax authorities and coordinate external advisors and legal counsel. Over time, the scope may extend to other European jurisdictions and cross-border projects.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee Italian corporate income tax, withholding tax, CFC and Pillar Two compliance, reviewing returns and filings prepared with local Finance and advisors.
  • Provide technical guidance on Italian and EU VAT, including complex domestic and cross-border transactions and supply chain structures.
  • Apply group transfer pricing policies locally and coordinate Local File, Master File and CbCR documentation in line with OECD guidelines.
  • Lead tax audits, assessments and litigation from first request to final resolution: define defence strategy, prepare submissions, manage deadlines and represent the company before the authorities.
  • Support tax accounting and reporting, including current and deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions and litigation provisions.
  • Advise management on reorganizations, M&A, due diligence and business initiatives, identifying risks as well as optimization opportunities, credits and incentives.
  • Strengthen tax governance, internal controls and documentation, turning lessons learned from disputes into preventive measures.
  • Monitor Italian, EU and international tax developments and translate them into practical actions for the business.
YOUR PROFILE
  • Master's degree in Tax, Law, Economics, Finance or a related field; a professional qualification (e.g. Dottore Commercialista, CPA or equivalent) is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in Italian corporate tax, gained in a multinational group and/or a top-tier tax advisory or law firm.
  • Proven hands-on experience managing Italian tax audits and litigation (CIT, VAT and/or transfer pricing).
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with tax authorities, senior management and external counsel with confidence and credibility.
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization and collaborating with international, remote stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement, strong analytical skills and a pragmatic, business-oriented approach.
  • Fluency in Italian and English.
  • Background in chemicals, plastics, distribution or manufacturing is an advantage.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
  • A senior role with full ownership of the Italian tax agenda and exposure to a global tax function.
  • Involvement in complex cross-border matters and strategic transformation projects.
