Senior System RAMS Engineer
Position Mission

Join our dynamic team in Naples as a Senior System RAMS Engineer. MERMEC STE is a growing company in the rail sector. In this role, you will work on cutting-edge projects with a variety of responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the execution of Safety Certification for the rail transit system, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, company guidelines, and standards from opening to revenue service.
  2. Coordinate with prime contractor and subcontractor/vendor RAMS teams.
  3. Produce Hazard Analysis and Safety Requirements Verification Checklists.
  4. Verify and sign off on design, installation, and commissioning of safety-related system requirements, including Train Control, Passenger Vehicles, Service Vehicles, Traction Electrification, Communications, UPS, Platform Screen Gates, and Fire Detection.
  5. Support the Engineering team in finalizing interface designs to maximize availability and safety in compliance with System Safety Standards.
  6. Assist the Commissioning Manager in identifying and prioritizing activities to ensure minimum safety levels throughout commissioning phases.
  7. Interface with safety authorities to secure approvals for revenue service phases.
  8. Perform safety and V&V governance activities at the system level, coordinating subsystem RAMS referents.
  9. Contribute to delivering systems within project schedules and budgets.
  10. Execute safety activities during bidding and delivery phases, including safety planning, preliminary analyses, reviews, and safety documentation development.
  11. Ensure subsystem safety requirements are clear to suppliers to avoid delays.
  12. Define actions for non-compliance with safety requirements.
  13. Participate in audits of safety management organizations.
  14. Improve and implement System Safety Standard processes.
  15. Provide technical support for interfacing with Safety Assessors, employers, and authorities.
  16. Monitor schedule and costs related to safety activities.
  17. Provide safety requirements and Hazard Logs to relevant engineers.
  18. Report on status, deadlines, schedules, and budgets to project managers.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
  • Engineering or business degree.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in CENELEC Standards, Verification, Validation, RAM, and Safety analyses.
  • Experience in railway projects is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to meet milestones.
  • Fluent in English is mandatory.
