2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship… we’re just getting started. We don’t follow the status quo, we’re here to challenge the competition, and we want you to join us.

The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to date in Formula 1.

General Summary :

This position reports to the Deputy Chief Designer & Structure or their designee; is based in Maranello, Italy. The role involves structural design and analysis of F1 chassis-related components.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Promote teamwork and effective communication across all personnel and departments.
  • Conduct structural analysis and optimization of car components to ensure solutions are lightweight, reliable, safe, and meet stiffness targets.
  • Utilize methods such as hand calculations, Finite Element Analysis (linear and non-linear), and software tools.
  • Perform structural optimization (topological, shape, composite laminate, etc.), automation, analysis, and correlation of experimental data through scripting and programming.
  • Focus primarily on analyzing composite components (chassis, gearbox, wings, bodywork, suspensions, etc.).
  • Adhere to all safety regulations at all venues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief Designer & Structure or their designee.

Education and Work Experience :

University degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or equivalent Engineering, preferably with a master’s degree in a relevant field. Minimum of 5 years in an engineering environment, with at least 3 years in professional motorsports.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Strong technical understanding of FE methods and their limitations.
  • Ability to work to high standards under stress and time constraints.
  • Quick decision-making skills, approaching problems scientifically and analytically.
  • Ability to work well within a team at all levels.
  • Empathetic approach to colleagues and team integration skills.
  • Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to assist others.

Equipment and Applications :

  • CAD : Catia V5 (basic functions)
  • HyperWorks / Optistruct
  • Abaqus CAE / Abaqus

Work Environment and Physical Demands :

Must be able to work in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment with an organized approach. Travel may be required. Mainly office-based, but includes supervision of full-scale component testing. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, manual dexterity, and working around machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.

This job may involve additional duties as reasonably assigned.
