Job Introduction

For supporting satellite data exploitation activities, we are currently looking for a skilled expert in Remote Sensing Earth Observation and GIS management. Through this task the candidate shall contribute to Serco activities related to the IRIDE services and similar projects. Serco is involved in various IRIDE activities including services related to the generation of forest fire scar maps and fire damage index maps. Serco is involved also in IRIDE user training for all the Service Value Chains of the Service Segment.

Main Responsibilities
As Senior Remote Sensing Specialist you will be responsible for:

1. Support Serco to manage the IRIDE Services products
2. Support to algorithm design/development of forest fires prevention tasks
3. Analysis of geospatial products related to forest fires mapping
4. Participation to projects related to earth/environment monitoring/mapping based on satellite optical and SAR data
5. Participation to project meetings and reviews
6. Supporting documentation writing
7. IRIDE Services training activities, focusing on the utilisation of satellite data. This includes organization, set-up and provision of face to face training events and web conferencing

Successful Candidate
Your skills:

1. Experience in multi-source data integration
2. Experience in algorithm development related to feature extraction, selection and classification from satellite data
3. Experience in machine learning techniques
4. Experience with data Science tools (e.g. Python, R, SQL, Matlab, C++)
5. Experience in sentinel data processing
6. Scientific and application project management
7. Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken)
8. At least 5 years' experience in the field of data exploitation, geospatial products analysis and algorithm development
9. Experience in project management is an asset
10. University degree in Physics, Remote Sensing or similar
11. Knowledge of satellite remote sensing data (optical and SAR), image analysis, GIS technology and applications and programming
