About the role

As a Senior Project Development Manager at Queequeg Renewables, you will take a leadership role in the development of wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in Italy. While this role is focused on the Italian market, many of our Italian team members are based in London, and we are open to candidates working from either London or Milan. Regardless of location, you will work closely with Italian stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and local partners to ensure the successful advancement of our projects from early-stage development through to execution.

Building on the responsibilities of a Senior Project Development Manager, this senior role comes with greater ownership over the Italian project pipeline, oversight of project teams, and the strategic direction of development activities. You will manage internal and external stakeholders, conduct high-level due diligence for acquisitions, and provide insights to senior leadership to help shape the company’s business strategy. Reporting directly to the Head of Development in Italy, this is an opportunity for an experienced professional to drive impactful renewable energy projects while mentoring junior team members and leading cross-functional collaboration.

Role responsibilities

• Oversee the progress of our Italian pipeline of wind, solar and BESS opportunities.
• Lead project teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Report to the Head of Development in Italy.
• Review, assess technical and financial due diligence for project acquisitions and onboarding.
• Help introduce to the C-suite team business opportunities and new schemes.
• Manage the teams involved in the development process.
• Liaise and cooperate with the engineering team.
• Contribute to developing and implementing the company's business development strategy.

Experience/knowledge

• Verifiable experience in developing, consultancy or advisory of PV, Wind projects in Italy.
• 5+ years of experience.
• Proven, strong understanding of the Italian regulatory framework related to the energy sector, specifically the development and construction of PV and Wind Plants, including environmental and licensing requirements.
• Strong knowledge of the Italian electricity system/technical and regulatory, including distributed generation regulations plus utilities and related interconnection procedures.
