A semiconductor manufacturing company in Italy seeks a Senior Process Development Engineer to drive experimental process development with their proprietary deposition systems. The ideal candidate will have a MSc or PhD in a relevant field and over 5 years of R&D or process development experience, with a strong focus on microfabrication and CAD tools. Senior Process Development Engineer

At RiseTech, we’re building the next generation of semiconductor manufacturing tools, powered by our proprietary deposition technology.

Our mission: unlock new architectures, devices, and manufacturing possibilities for the semiconductor industry through precision engineering, advanced process control, and smart materials.

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Process Development Engineer to join our growing technical team and drive experimental process development around our proprietary deposition systems.

You’ll design experiments, prototype, optimize, and help scale a technology that sits at the intersection of microfabrication, electrochemistry, material science and additive manufacturing.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, execute, and analyze DoE-based experiments to optimize microfabrication parameters.
  • Work closely with our Head of Production and R&D team to translate concepts into manufacturable processes.
  • Supervise and mentor lab technicians and interns in daily operations.
  • Operate and coordinate maintenance of 3D printers, laser micromachining systems, and microfluidic setups in our in-house cleanroom facility.
  • Develop SOPs and ensure lab safety and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot process challenges and propose creative, data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate across mechanical, electronics, and process control teams for system integration.

What We’re Looking For

  • MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in R&D, process development, or prototyping (ideally in MEMS, microfabrication, or precision manufacturing).
  • Experience with 3D printing, laser machining, or microfluidics.
  • Strong experimental and analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency with CAD and data analysis tools (SolidWorks, MATLAB, Python, etc.).
  • Independent, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced lab environment.
  • Fluent in English (Italian is a plus).
