Vertiv is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our team in Castel Guelfo (BO), Italy. You will drive analysis, design, and testing of high-power conversion topologies and components, and lead lab tests to verify performance.

The role requires 7+ years in UPS or power conversion platforms, deep knowledge of IGBT/MOSFET/SiC switches, and experience with gate drivers, PWM, and high-current PCB layouts. Occasional travel (10%) is expected.

Competenze

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in UPS, or power conversion platforms with proven project deployments.
• Deep knowledge of IGBT, MOSFET, SiC power switches in modules or discrete packages.
• Knowledge of gate driver circuits, analog and protection circuits for power electronics, and PWM modulation techniques.
• High current PCB layout design knowledge; thermal and multi-physics simulation is a plus.
• Planar magnetics design knowledge is a plus.
• Experience in prototype development, tuning and testing.
• Experience in product industrialization and DFM/ DFA/ DFT.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency with engineering design tools (Plecs, Spice).
• Strong planning, analysis and communication.
• Travel ready; able to travel internationally.

What kind of work will you be doing?

• Work with the team to drive the analysis, design and testing of future conversion topologies and components, including power conversion stage, gate drivers, magnetics, etc.


• Lead and perform lab tests to increase technology readiness and verify performance.


• Coordinate with engineering divisions and offering to define product specifications.


• Support the testing team in creating plans and assessing results.


• Prepare technical documents, including simulation results, schematics and component specifications.


• Apply lessons learned from previous projects to new ones.


• Report progress, risks, and solutions to stakeholders and management promptly.

What will make you successful?

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.


• 7+ years in UPS, or power conversion platforms (AC/DC, DC/DC, etc.), with proven track record of projects in medium-high power converters. Isolated DC/DC experience with successful deployment is a plus.


• Deep knowledge of IGBT, Mosfet, SiC power switches – in power modules and discrete packages; SMD TSC top side cooled project/design experience is a plus.


• Deep Knowledge of gate driver circuits, analog and protection circuits for power electronics, and PWM modulation techniques for multilevel converters.


• High current power PCB layout design knowledge; thermal and multi-physic simulation is a plus.


• Magnetic components design; Planar magnetics design skill is a plus.


• Proven experience in prototype development, tuning and testing.


• Experience in product industrialization and DFM/DFA/DFT.


• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.


• Proficient with engineering design tools and methodologies (Plecs, Spice).


• Strong in planning, analysis and communication.


• Collaborative team player with solid problem-solving skills.


• Customer-oriented; open to travel.


• Good in written and spoken English.


• Experienced in technical documentation and test procedures.


• Complete knowledge of laboratory measuring instruments operation (oscilloscope, wattmeter, etc.)
  Travel required on an occasional basis (10%) including international travel for NPDI product reviews and corporate meetings.

The anticipated salary range for this role in Castel Guelfo (BO), Italy is between 48.000€ to 60.000€ gross per year (based on a full-time working week). Certain roles may be eligible for variable compensation and benefits. Where applicable, a comprehensive overview of the full benefits package and any additional compensation will be provided during the recruitment process in accordance with local legal requirements.
