Thales Alenia Space in Rome is seeking a Senior Power Solutions HW Design Engineer to lead the hardware design of power modules for space equipment.

You will define specifications, develop and validate power converters (DC-DC, flyback, resonant, etc.), and collaborate with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

The role requires 10–16 years of experience, mastery of ECSS standards, and strong skills in P-Spice/LT-Spice/Simplis; permanent contract in Rome.

Competenze

• Laurea Magistrale or Master degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Consolidated experience in HW design of power solutions.
• Knowledge of space equipment standards and ECSS processes.
• Experience in power solutions HW design, integration and test.
• Experience in DC-DC digital control loop.
• Knowledge of ECSS specifications.
• Knowledge of Schematic Drawing (Mentor DXD).
• Knowledge of circuit simulation tools (P-Spice, LT-Spice, Simplis).
• Excellent communication and ability to work autonomously or in team.
• Good English proficiency.

Our power product team in Rome are looking for a Senior power solutions HW Design Engineer to join them and take responsibility for design power solutions to various space equipments. This is a great opportunity for engineers with Power Electronics background skills.

Key duties

You will be part of a team including HW engineers. Your duties will include:

• Definition of equipment/modules/boards specifications
• Definition and follow-on of development, validation and manufacturing plans
• HW Design of power solutions with particular reference to :
• Forward DC DC Converter
• Flyback DC DC Converter
• Resonant Converter
• Synchronous rectifier PWM
• H-Bridge Converter
• DC DC Converter GaN Fet based
• Series regulator
• Switching Regulators
• power distribution architecture at power unit level
• cross strapping solution on the power distribution architecture
• Execution of analysis and synthesis of control loop circuit in feedback system
• P Spice Simulation and analysis
• Execution of Worst Case Analysis
• Execution of Part Stress Analysis
• Provide support to the FMEA specialist for the relevant analysis

You will interface the customer and suppliers and you will collaborate with other Thales Alenia Space departments including project leaders, product lines, industrial engineering, manufacturing and marketing & sales.

Skills, experience and qualifications required

• Laurea Magistrale or Master degree or relevant work experience
• Consolidated experience in the HW design of power solutions
• Knowledge of space equipment standards and processes
• Previous experience in power solutions HW design, engineering, integration and test
• Experience in DC DC digital control loop
• Knowledge of ECSS specifications
• Knowledge of Schematic Drawing (Mentor DXD)
• Knowledge of circuital Model and simulation tool (P-Spice, LT-Spice, Simplis)
• Organized and methodical with strong communication skills
• Able to manage multiple tasks at one time, to work autonomously or in team
• Attitude to problem solving and to achieve results within time and cost constraints
• Good knowledge of English in writing and speaking
