A leading engineering firm in Milan is looking for an experienced mechanical piping engineer to manage design activities. Responsibilities include the design and selection of piping components, coordination with clients and suppliers, and providing technical support. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in piping engineering, a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and strong knowledge of international piping codes. This role offers a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to mentor less-experienced engineers.

Perform the design activities and issue the deliverables assigned to him by the Piping Chief Engineer, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety / environment requirements, within the specific time schedule and cost

Be a technical reference point for piping engineering

Responsible for the mechanical design of pipes, piping fittings and valves.

Key aims and objectives

• Perform calculation and selection of the standardized products using the relevant Standards
• Interact with the Client / Subcontractors for the Piping Discipline
• Deal with Suppliers of piping components

Responsibilities and duties

• Execute all the actions and tasks assigned by the Piping Chief Engineer, supporting him in developing engineering and / or interfacing Client or Vendors
• Review contractual technical documentation and requirements
• Perform the design and the selection of all piping components and valves.
• Prepare piping class specifications
• Performs calculations of special components
• Prepare or check material requisitions for piping components
• Issue or check technical bid evaluation for piping components
• Review and approve vendors documents
• Ensure proper coordination with other Engineers.
• Perform / participate to the squad checks Support P&ID and line list preparation
• Prepare Piping specification in conjunction with Piping Chief Engineer, such as Painting or Insulations specifications, etc.
• Ensure that his work is done according to professional criteria and without mistakes, checking in detail all the documentation before formal issue
• Plan his work to meet the given schedule
• Provide support and guidance to less experienced colleagues
• Support the Project management Team in case of dispute / claims related to the Piping Discipline
• Tutoring for less-experienced Piping Engineers
• Support the Piping Discipline Manager proposing improvement to standard procedures and design methodologies
• Piping Materials background
• Knowledge of major international Piping and Mechanical Codes, ASME, ASTM, BS, API, EN, PED
• Mechanical calculation knowledge
• Experience in Piping Engineering in EPC / Energy projects
• Computer skills including word processor, spread sheets, Smart Plant Material (Marian) and or PUMA and other similar applications
• Good written and spoken English
